Considering Scalp Micropigmentation, Your Experiences?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been researching scalp micropigmentation (SMP) as an option for dealing with hair loss. It looks like a great way to create the illusion of a fuller head of hair or a buzz-cut style. If you’ve had SMP, how was your experience? How long did the results last for you? Were there any side effects or maintenance issues? Also, does it look natural up close? Would you recommend it for someone with advanced hair loss?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and stories!

Cheers!

Hey there! I had SMP done about a year ago, and I can honestly say it was a game-changer for me. I had advanced hair loss and was tired of dealing with the thinning areas and receding hairline. Here's what I experienced:

  • Results: The results were amazing right from the start. It gave me the look of a shaved head, which I love. I’ve heard the results can last around 3 to 5 years, but I plan to go for a touch-up in about 2 years just to keep it looking fresh.
  • Side Effects and Maintenance: There were a few small issues immediately after the procedure—some redness and slight swelling, but nothing major. Maintenance isn’t too difficult. I just avoid direct sun exposure and harsh hair products. It's pretty low-maintenance compared to other hair loss solutions.
  • Natural Look: Up close, it looks pretty natural! People who don’t know I’ve had it done often comment on how good my hair looks, and they can’t tell I’ve had anything done unless I tell them.
  • Advanced Hair Loss: I’d totally recommend it for someone with advanced hair loss. It really helps with the illusion of fullness, especially if you’re used to seeing thinning areas. It doesn't actually grow hair, but it does wonders for your confidence.

I’m really happy with my decision to get SMP done. Just make sure you choose a skilled technician because the results depend a lot on the artist's experience!
