FUE vs. FUT: Which Hair Transplant Technique Is Better for Me?

Hi all 😎
I’ve been researching hair transplant techniques and keep coming across FUE and FUT. I’d love to hear from people who’ve had either procedure:

What made you choose one technique over the other?

Was the recovery process different between the two?

Are there any specific advantages or disadvantages you noticed? 💪

As someone who opted for FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), here’s my experience and perspective:

Why I Chose FUE:

I liked that FUE doesn’t leave a linear scar, as I occasionally wear my hair short. The idea of individual follicles being extracted felt less daunting. My surgeon recommended FUE based on my hair density and the area I wanted to cover. It also suited my lifestyle better.

Recovery Process:

FUE: The donor area (back of my head) healed relatively quickly—scabs fell off in about a week, and I could resume light activities soon after. Mild redness lingered for a while but wasn’t noticeable unless you looked closely.

FUT (from research): Recovery might take longer because of the incision for the strip. There’s also more tightness in the scalp during healing, and the scar requires extra care.

If you’re deciding between the two, I recommend considering your hair goals, willingness to manage scarring, and overall lifestyle. Also, have a thorough consultation with a reputable surgeon to see what’s best for you.
