I’ve actually used a few hair serums, especially after my hair transplant. From my experience, they’re not miracle workers, but they can help in certain ways depending on what you’re looking for.
If your goal is to maintain your existing hair or improve hair quality, serums with ingredients like biotin, caffeine, or peptides can be useful. They often make the hair look shinier and feel stronger. I used one that had minoxidil in it, which is clinically proven to help with hair regrowth—it worked well for me in slowing down shedding and thickening some thinning areas.
After my transplant, my surgeon recommended a serum with hyaluronic acid to keep the scalp hydrated during the healing phase. It didn’t regrow hair, but it kept my scalp healthy and comfortable.
That said, no serum will regrow hair in bald areas—transplants or medications like finasteride are better suited for that. So, if you’re considering a serum, figure out your goals first, and manage expectations.
