Is There Any Way to Prevent the "Doll Hair" Look?

Hey guys,

I’ve been doing a lot of research before going ahead with a hair transplant, and one thing that kinda worries me is that some results I’ve seen have that “doll hair” look—where the grafts are too evenly spaced, and it just looks unnatural. I really wanna avoid that.

Is it mostly a surgeon’s skill issue, or does it also depend on hair type? I’ve got straight, medium-thick hair, and I’m wondering if that makes a difference. Also, does FUE vs. FUT play a role in getting a more natural look?

If anyone’s had a really natural-looking transplant, I’d love to hear what factors made the biggest difference.

It’s 90% about the surgeon’s technique, man. The best ones know how to vary the angles, density, and placement so it doesn’t look too uniform. Some older transplant methods made that mistake, but modern FUE should avoid it.

That’s good to hear, Sporky. So basically, I just need to make sure I pick the right surgeon and check their before-and-after pics carefully? I feel like some clinics just pack the grafts in without considering hair angles, and that’s what makes it look fake.

Exactly. A good surgeon will follow the natural direction of your native hair. Straight hair can sometimes be trickier because it doesn’t blend as easily as wavy/curly hair, but an experienced doc should still make it look natural.
