Question about BHT?

Hi, If you've had beard hair extracted for a transplant, could you share your experience with scarring? Do you have any pictures? Also, when were you able to start shaving again, and how long did it take for the redness to fade?

Hey, I had around 500 beard grafts extracted about a year ago. The scarring is barely noticeable now, but right after the procedure, there were small red dots for a couple of weeks. I started shaving again after about 10 days, but I kept it light at first since the skin was still healing. By around the 4-6 week mark, the redness had mostly faded.

I heard that redness lingers for about a month, and people wait about two weeks before shaving just to be safe. One tip: avoid heavy shaving creams or aftershave with alcohol during the healing period, as they can irritate the skin.

Hi kajaga!

I haven’t personally had a BHT, but from what I’ve read and heard, the healing process seems to be pretty manageable. Redness typically lasts a few weeks, about three weeks for most people, and you can usually start shaving again after 7-10 days. Scarring also seems minimal if the procedure is done right, and it’s almost invisible unless you’re examining really closely. A common piece of advice is to make sure the surgeon uses a small punch size for the extraction, as that helps reduce the chances of noticeable scarring.

I had a similar experience, and the scarring is almost non-existent now, but it did take a little longer for me. My redness lingered for about a month, and I waited about two weeks before shaving just to be safe. One tip: avoid heavy shaving creams or aftershave with alcohol during the healing period, as they can irritate the skin. Overall, I’m super happy with how things turned out.
