When Will the Donor Area Heal?

My donor area is still tender and slightly scabbed 2 weeks post-op. Is this healing process normal, and how long does it usually take?

Yes, soreness and scabbing in the donor area are usually normal two weeks after a hair transplant procedure. Generally, scabs begin to shed within the first 7-10 days, but in some cases, this process might take slightly longer. The discomfort should also gradually diminish as the healing progresses.

Ensure the donor site remains clean, carefully follow your surgeon's aftercare instructions, and avoid activities or products that could irritate the scalp. If you experience persistent pain, redness, swelling, or other symptoms of potential infection, consult your hair restoration specialist immediately. Typically, the donor area requires about 3-4 weeks to heal completely.
