Managing Itching, Dandruff, and Shedding While on Hair Loss Treatment

Hi everyone,


I've been using Minoxidil 5% liquid twice daily and taking Finasteride Sandoz 1.25mg daily for the past month. Alongside these, I’m using KetMed shampoo (with ketoconazole) once a week as advised by my dermatologist.


However, I’m struggling with persistent itching and significant dandruff, which results in large flakes. Unfortunately, the dandruff often pulls out hairs, particularly from my crown. I’m also experiencing a noticeable shedding phase, which I understand can be expected early on.

Do you think it’s safe to use Alpecin Double Effect shampoo every other day while sticking to the ketoconazole shampoo once a week? I plan to continue using Minoxidil twice daily as well.


Alternatively, if you have recommendations for effective shampoos to manage dandruff and reduce itching, I’d love to hear them. I’m also considering switching to Minoxidil foam soon. Do you think this change might help with the irritation and improve my overall experience?

Hey there! The itching and dandruff could be from the Minoxidil liquid. Switching to Minoxidil foam might help, as it’s less irritating for many people.

I don't know about the shampoo though, just started Nizoral after asking here.
